  • May 2006 - Dorothy "Dottie" Metcalf-Lindenburger, former Colorado Rainbow Girl, has graduated from NASA's astronaut candidate program. After almost two years of extensive training, the PWA and Past Grand Musician, is one of NASA's newest astronauts. Dottie's graduation ceremony took place in Houston on February 10 and she was one of three educator astronauts in her class. While Dottie's graduation will be followed by months of advanced training, Dottie is a mission specialist who will work on the space station's payloads and computers. In addition to keeping up with the studies, flight hours and Russian language classes, Dottie has been completing flight simulations, survival training and when there's time in her very busy schedule, has been enjoying talking to school students about her training experiences at NASA. Dottie's story is one of inspiration and of always following your dreams.
